Course Introduction/ Synopsis:

Psychologists have developed a systematic approach called behavior analysis to increase safe behaviors, reduce risky behaviors and prevent accidental injuries.
Organizations have adopted this approach, terming it behavior-based safety (BBS).

BBS, which grew from early research by B.F. Skinner. Rather than try to get people to change via motivation or attitude, BBS programs successfully get people into thinking differently. In other words, they change behavior first in order to change attitude.

This course helps behavioral observers understand the rationale for a Behavioral Safety process and provides the participants with the knowledge and tools they need to effectively conduct observations.

Course Details:

A behavior-based safety program starts by identifying one or more critical behaviors to change. Trained observers study and record these behaviors to obtain baseline measures of their frequency, duration and rate. Next, you will design and institute a BBS program to change the behavior in a beneficial – safer -- direction. Once again, observers record the frequency, duration or rate of the target behavior, comparing the before and after measures to determine how well the program has worked.

2. How does the process work in this organization?

3. How to conduct observations

4. How to discuss observations

5. Since this course includes an overview of your organization’s process it will be specifically tailored to fit your organization (onsite classes only).
   
    

How long is the certification good for?

This course does not expire however retraining is recommended every 3 years.

Onsite training:
