  1. "Open" enrollment in Central Florida

  2. At your site anywhere in North America

  3. Online in the comfort of your home or office

Course Introduction/ Synopsis:

What is a Confined Space?
A confined space has limited or restricted means for entry or exit, and it is not designed for continuous occupancy. These spaces include, but are not limited to underground vaults, tanks, storage bins, manholes, pits, silos, process vessels, and pipelines.

OSHA uses the term "permit-required confined space" to describe a confined space that has one or more of the following characteristics:

  1. contains or has the potential to contain a hazardous atmosphere;

  2. contains a material that has the potential to engulf an entrant;

  3. has walls that converge inward or floors that slope downward and taper into a smaller area which could trap or asphyxiate an entrant;

  4. or contains any other recognized safety or health hazard, such as unguarded machinery, exposed live wires, or heat stress

Who requires Confined Space training?
Employees who perform work in and around permit-required confined spaces are exposed to unique hazards that require appropriate and effective training to help in preventing incidents. Our interactive confined space session provides participants with the knowledge and tools they need to safely work in or around confined spaces.

This course does not expire however retraining is recommended every 4 years due to changes in regulations, standards and technology.

What is the length of the course?

  • 4 hours- Our introductory course provides the information needed for most employees who enter confined spaces. This includes hands on instruction in gas detection principles and permit procedures.

  • 6 hours- To provide your staff the opportunity to practice their new knowledge using a scenario based approach our 6 hour course is also available. With this hands-on practice the students work through several scenarios from start to finish including assessing the space, controlling the hazards and even conducting non-entry rescue techniques.
