Course Introduction/ Synopsis:
This 8-hour competent person course provides hands on training for both conventional and unconventional fall protection applications.
When work is performed on elevated surfaces or during construction activities, protection against falls must be considered. Employers are required to provide a training program for each employee who might be exposed to fall hazards. The program must provide each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and then provide solutions to minimize these hazards.
Course Details:
This interactive session provides participants with an understanding and detailed hands on practice of both conventional and non-conventional fall protection.
Topics include:
Section 1: Hazard Recognition Exercise
Section 2: Fall Protection standards and definitions.
Section 3: Ladder Usage
Section 4: Conventional Fall Protection:
- Hole Covers, Guard Rails, Safety Nets, Personal Fall Protection Equipment (Anchor, Body Harness, Connecting Devices, Decent and Rescue Devices).
Section 5: Unconventional Fall Protection:
- Fall Protection Plan, Controlled Access Zones, Control Lines, Warning Line Systems, Safety Monitoring System
Section 6: Fall Protection Application/ Exercises (Case Studies, Exam, Hands on practice).
How long is the certification good for?
This course does not expire however retraining is recommended every 3 years due to changes in regulations, standards and technology.
