Course Introduction/ Synopsis:

Skid Steer safety training provides participants a general understanding of the safe and efficient operation of a Skid Steer. Participants will be able to identify specific health and safety hazards associated with operating a Skid Steer.

Course outline and objectives:
  • Discuss how weight distribution affects skid-steer loader steering and stability.
  • Explain the difference between Tipping Load and Rated Operating Capacity.
  • Have an understanding of the hydrostatic transmission, and that the loader will react the moment the steering levers are moved.
  • Explain why maintenance is an important factor for safe, efficient, and productive operation.
  • Identify the controls and their functions.
  • Identify the loader's safety features and explain their importance.
  • Explain the steps of safe entry and exit.
  • Know the fundamentals of safe maneuvering, traveling, and working with the attachment.
  • Know the fundamentals of efficient maneuvering, traveling, and working with the attachment.
How long is the certification good for?

This course certificate expires every 3 years due to changes in regulations, standards and technology.

What is the length of the course?

This course is 4 hours in length including time for hands on training.
