Course Introduction/ Synopsis:
The OSHA Outreach Training Program is OSHA’s primary way to train workers in the basics of occupational safety and health. Through the program OSHA authorized trainers such as Safety Links teach 10-hour and 30-hour courses in construction or general industry.
What topics are covered in the General Industry Courses?
Introduction to OSHA, Walking-Working Surfaces, Exit Routes and Fire Prevention Plans, Electrical plus some of the following options depending upon your company need: Powered Platforms, Manlifts, Occupational Health and Environment Control, Personal Protective Equipment, Permit-Required Confined Spaces, The Control of Hazardous Energy (lockout/tagout), Fire Protection, Machinery and Guarding, Powered Tools and Other Hand-Held Equipment, Welding, Cutting, and Brazing, Toxic and Hazardous Substances, Intro to I.H./ Bloodborne Pathogens, Materials Handling/ Storage, Safety and Health Programs, Plus any other safety topic of your choice.
How long is the course certification good for?
This course does not expire however retraining is recommended every 3 years due to changes in regulations, standards and technology.
What is the length of the course?
OSHA 10 hour courses are 10 hours of training.
Note:
OSHA has revised its Outreach Training Program Guidelines to require authorized trainers to limit courses to a maximum of 7 hours per day. This means that all 10-hour courses must be taught over a minimum of two days. If someone is offering to do your class in 1 day you may want to question their integrity and the quality of their training!!
