Course Introduction/ Synopsis:
This interactive session is based on the OSHA regulations as outlined in 29 CFR, Part 1910.147.
OSHA requires that anyone who is involved in working around energy systems such as electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and others receive training.
Topics include:
- Importance Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO)
- Roles and responsibilities of those involved with LOTO
- Three parts of a LOTO program including the development of a written program, the training of employees and how and when to implement the LOTO program
- When LOTO “refresher” training is required
- Define the different types of energy that might be encountered using LOTO
- Proper application of locks and other devices as part of a LOTO program
- The advantages, disadvantages and limitations of locks and tags as part of a LOTO program
- Considerations when working with contractors
How long is the certification good for?
This course does not expire however retraining is recommended every 3 years due to changes in regulations, standards and technology.
What is the length of the course?
This course is approximately 2 hour in length
