Course Introduction/ Synopsis:
This interactive session provides participants with the knowledge and tools they need to safely choose and effectively use air purifying and supplied air respirators.
This course is essential for individuals who oversee respirator users in their work place. This is also an excellent opportunity to touch, hold, and feel a wide variety of respirators, filters, cartridges and other equipment from a variety of manufacturers at one time.

Course Details:
This course provides a practical overview of respirators, standards, guidelines, use, limitations and details of the OSHA Respirator Standard.
Course outline:

- The general requirements of OSHA's respirator standard, 29 CFR 1910.134
- Types of respirator facepieces (half, full, loose, hoods, helmets)
- Types, use, limitations, and advantages of respirators
- N, R, & P series filters; 95, 99, & 100 Efficiency Levels
- PAPR's (advantages, disadvantages, features and uses)
- Self-Contained / Supplied Air Systems
- Program requirements and record keeping
- Basic considerations for respirator selection
- Medical clearance requirements
- Fit testing requirements and basic types of fit testing methods: qualitative and quantitative
How long is the certification good for?
OSHA requires respirator training to be conducted on an annual basis. For that reason this certification is current for one (1) year.
What is the length of the course?
This four (4) hour course is designed for respirator users plus supervisors, safety professionals and respirator program administrators.
